Duties: Sets up and tests new desktop computers. Reports all defects found on new computers to the Information Systems Manager. Manages all manufacture’s warranty issues. These include detecting problems and defects on new desktop computers, reporting them to the manufacturer, obtaining manufacturer’s return authorization, packing and shipping defective hardware and software back to the manufacturer, receiving manufacturer’s replacements and ensuring replacement units are fully functional within manufacturer’s specifications. Maintains a warranty return log. Installs, configures and tests inkjet, impact and laser printers and associated printer driver software. Installs and configures operating system software. Installs and configures adapter hardware and driver software. Installs and configures Internet access, browser, mail and news software. Installs and configures application software. Replaces major desktop computer hardware components as instructed by supervisor. Major hardware components consist of power supplies, motherboards, RAM modules, floppy drives, hard drives, CD ROM drives, video controllers, sound cards, internal modems, network interface cards and CPU chips. Maintains a service record of all major hardware component replacement for all desktop computers serviced. Performs periodic virus scan and removal on desktop computer hard drives and floppy diskettes. Maintains a virus scan record for all desktop computers scanned. Performs periodic floppy and CD ROM drive head cleaning. Practices proper maintenance of all tools, test instruments and diagnostic software in his/her care. Prepares and presents weekly activity reports to the Information Systems Manger. Serves on committees. Other duties will include webpage, inventory and technology procurement capabilities. Minimum Qualifications: Associates of Science degree plus at least two years of experience working in the Information Technology field. Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology field with applicable certificates preferred. Experience of webpage creation and management. Four to six years work experience in the Information Technology field preferred. Posses the ability and knowledge relating to the position duties as listed above as well as a keen in-depth information technology knowledge.
