Coordinator Duties: Provide overall academic and administrative coordination for the implementation of a new multi step nursing program leading to AS in Nursing-initial duties include refine course outlines, identify teaching resources, establish clinical training lab, arrange clinical training experiences, and develop and implement course and program assessment based on expected student learning outcomes. Supervise, hire, train, evaluate, and guide all other nursing instructors recruited for the program. Following initial implementation of the program at the national campus, facilitate the delivery and monitoring of courses and clinical training in the other FSM states. Foster and implement academic linkages between COM-FSM and other institutions. Participate in all evaluation activities in compliance with the college and the FSM AHEC project requirement. Engage in college governance activities by serving committees; participate in professional development activities.
Teaching duties- may teach up to 9 contact hours per regular semester and 3 contact hours in summer session. The instructor must maintain a high quality of instruction in accordance with the student learning outcomes as described in course outlines resulting in measurable student learning. Provide academic advice and follow-up guidance to at-risk students. Maintain regular office hours; maintain positive and cooperative working relationships, Participate in scheduling of classes and registration for each semester. This position reports to the director of academic programs.
Minimum of master degree in nursing. Consideration will be given to candidates with master in public health or a related health field combined with BA in Nursing and current nursing licensure. Applicant must have at least 2 years of full-time teaching at post-secondary level and 5 years clinical nursing experience. Preferably, one year of experience in program management. Foreign credentials must be equated to US standards in the field of work. Applicants should have working knowledge of establishment and assessment of program and course level student learning outcomes, nursing program accreditation, and nursing licensure. Cross cultural and/or overseas living overseas experience is preferred. Ability to give evidence of exemplary teaching, initiative, interpersonal skills, and cultural sensitivity are essential.
