Duties:
Provides first aid care to patients; Diagnoses and prescribes treatment of minor acute illnesses and injuries; Performs minor surgical laceration/wounds and other related minor surgical procedures; Performs pelvic examination to obtain pap smear and other related tests; Performs simple laboratory procedures, pregnancy test, etc.; Provides basic assessment and screening of chronic illnesses such as diabetes, etc.; Provides basic health counseling on family planning and such; Assist in planning and implementing a preventive health care plan ; Maintains accurate confidential medical records; Assist with report preparation and submission; Schedules follow up visits; Serves on committees; Oversees the office in the absence of the nurse; and performs related duties as needed
Minimum Qualifications:
HS graduate. Completion of a community health program or its equivalent training with four years of practical experience in a health care or related work area. Possession of current and valid FSM license to practice nursing/medicine.
Must have knowledge of: standard of nursing/medical techniques and procedures for a wide variety of patient care; basic health counseling skills and principles of first aid/CPA procedures & techniques; proper use medications and their actions; medical office equipments; medical agencies and organizations for patient referrals; safety and sanitation principles and practices.
Ability to: apply minimum standard of nursing and medical techniques; perform minor surgical procedures; prescribe and administer proper medication and treatment; prepare and write reports; recognize signs and symptoms of medical emergency; communicate clearly and effectively in both oral and written language; develop and maintain effective working relationships; maintain accurate and confidential records; demonstrate good listing skills, motivation and reliability to carry out duties in the manner that is expected.
