Multipurpose Building Contract Signed

A brief ceremony was held on September 21, 1999, to formalize the signing of the contract between the FSM National Government and the Government of the People's Republic of China with regards to the construction of the multipurpose gymnasium at the National Campus. Acting Secretary for the FSM Department of Transportation, Communication, and Infrastructure, Mr. Wayner Yamaguchi, signed on behalf of the FSM, while Mr. Zhang Xinda, First Secretary, Economic & Commercial Counsellor's Office of the Chinese Embassy, signed on behalf of the People's Republic of China. According to Mr. Zhang, a team will arrive within the next few months to set up the construction offices. The project is expected to take 18 months to complete.
