Course Objectives:
The goal of this course is to improve students’
research, expository writing, and critical thinking skills. The course will provide the students with
the basic skills necessary to write research-supported papers in the humanities
and sciences.

A Guide to Research and Writing, Ruszkiewicz/Walker
Class Attendance:
Students who are absent for more than four sessions
can be automatically dropped from the course.
A total of four includes both excused and unexcused absences.
If you come more than ten minutes late to class you
can be marked absent for half the class.
If you come more than twenty minutes late, you can be marked absent for
the whole class.
Grading:
Written Assignments 20%
Mid-term Paper 20%
Attendance/Participation 20%
Final Paper 40%
A=90—100
B=80—89
C=70—79
D=60—69
F=Below 60
Course Work:
You will be expected to turn in Outlines and Rough
Drafts for each of your written assignments and they will be counted towards
your overall grade. Every student is
expected to come to class prepared and ready to participate. Turn in your assignments on time. Late papers will be marked down.
