Restaurant Review 10 April 2003
The Blue Plate Café
The
Blue Plate Café is a teaching classroom for the HRM Division, here at Pohnpei
Campus; teachers teaching students all about restaurant operation and students
learning about the details of restaurant operations. Set up during last
September, it has been operating well under the guidance of Howard Rice, the
chairperson of all the HRM Division, and also under hard work of the General
Manager Joseph Nyakairu as well as the Student Manager Jessie Hairens. It has
also been handled by the HRM Students who are almost finished with their
studies. This restaurant can be defined as a perfect place to eat for all the
people at the Campus because of its location, the costs of meal, and the
atmosphere inside it.
The
location of The Blue Plate Café is remarkable. It is situated at the center of
the Campus. In other words, it is facing the Administrative office, and between
the Nahs and the classroom buildings. This place is better for all because it
is the first place that a person comes to when coming in from the parking lot.
The Blue Plate Café is the second door to the left side of the building and
this door is painted blue.
I used to
wonder if there is a meaning of “The Blue Plate Café” and was amazed at the
“blueness of the restaurant. Well, the inside of the restaurant is painted blue
on the walls. Then when I gazed at the walls, I noticed the hanging portrays.
They were all beautiful. Then the atmosphere inside is overwhelmingly welcome.
The wait staff. (the beautiful and handsome HRM students) were all friendly.
With beautiful smiles on their faces and casual manners, they served us and
treated us like we were real friends. With their friendly manners and welcoming
remarks, we enjoyed their services and their delicious food for the day. The

If your lunch or dessert in served on a “Blue Plate”, it is on us.
We selected
our orders, and thinking of the costs of each of the things on the menu, we
were not worried about anything since these on the list are really cheap.
Looking
back on the menu, you can see that the cost of each dishes, drinks, and pies
are cheap. You cannot say that this restaurant’s entrees are expensive by
looking at the costs of things on the menu here. Then consider the amazing
thing about their operation and their offering you a free lunch if your lunch
is served on a “Blue Plate.” What a very nice restaurant people!
Every
Tuesday and Thursday of the week, this restaurant is opened to the public. If
you have the chance, go to this nice restaurant and have a variety of food
every week. Do not hesitate on the decision, however, go for it and enjoy a
time there and see for yourself all the friendly and beautiful people inside.
