Check out the following sites for the latest in on-line learning:

Dave's ESL Cafe

Visit Dave's page to chat with other ESL students, learn idioms and slang, and test your English ability with a variety of quizzes. This site has lots of links to other ESL sites as well.

Online Brittanica Encyclopedia

How Online Brittanical works: put your search terms or topic into the box, then click. Then among the various links that come up, click on the one directly referring you to the Britannica article. It is really good because you get the exact article you would get in the printed Brittanica, latest edition.

Webster's Dictionary is also on this same page.

Hong Kong Polytechnic University's Virtual Language Centre

The Virtual Language Centre has an Online Corcordancer, which is a tool that displays English phrases as they are used in authentic English speaking and writing. This is the place where you can zero in on the meaning of such phrases as "zero in on."

Another good site is the WordNet online dictionary.
