Intercept

The following animation examines intercept. The intercept for a line is the y-value at which the line crosses the y-axis, marked by a vertical green line segment below. The y-intercept is tracked by the red square in the animation below. The intercept can be a whole number or a fraction. Use the following animation to answer the questions further below. The numerical value of the intercept can be seen in the upper RIGHT hand corner of the graph.  Note that the slope of the line can be any value: in the animation below many different slopes are depicted.  The value of the slope is "independent" of the y-intercept.
