Associate of Arts in Teacher Preparation
Upon successful completion of the education associate program, student will be able to:
- Demonstrate basic knowledge of the foundations and concepts related to elementary education.
- Demonstrate familiarity with a variety of instructional strategies for elementary school students.
- Demonstrate basic knowledge in the following areas: art, language, literature, science, math and social studies.
Third-year Certificate of Achievement in Teacher Preparation-Elementary
Students completing the Third-year Certificate of Achievement in Teacher Preparation-Elementary will be expected to demonstrate the following competencies:
- Demonstrate and use knowledge of the FSM elementary school curriculum standards.
- Apply a variety of teaching approaches to meet learning needs of FSM elementary school students.
- Assess and evaluate learning of the elementary student at both the formative and summative levels.
- Organize and manage and elementary classroom environment for learning.
- Demonstrate and use background knowledge in the following areas: learning theories and principles, human development, language development, educational foundations, sociocultural issues and individual and group motivation.
- Demonstrate professionalism.
